UPCOMING EVENTS


Ouray's 4th graders visited Ms. Childe’s 4th graders!  Each child wrote a report on a local historical landmark and we published a book called, "A Peek Into the Past."

 

 Friday, May 6thth:  Did you know Colorado ranks 47th nationwide in K-12 funding?  Did you know that Colorado spends $2,060 less per student than the national average?  Please join us to learn how Colorado’s unique constitutional policies like TABOR are impacting K-12 education!  Bright Futures, WeR-1 and Colorado Fiscal Institute are hosting an informational session about the upcoming state ballot issue concerning school funding.  Please join us on Friday May 6th at the Wilkinson Library from 1:30 to 3:00 or in Montrose on Wednesday May 4th to learn more.

 

Friday, May 6th:  The Telluride Intermediate School presents the 6th Grade drama production: Free to Be…You and Me”.  This fun play is directed by Angela Watkins with musical direction by Tuck Gillett.  The performance is on Friday, May 6 at 6 pm, Michael D. Palm Theatre, All tickets $5 at the door.

Friday, May 6th:  Skippy Free Dental Screenings will take place for 4th – 6th graders whose parents have completed registration or students who had their teeth checked in the fall 2015.  If you still need to register, see Shelley for forms before May 2nd.

 Important Upcoming Dates – Mark Your Calendars:

 Wednesday May 11th & Thursday, May 12th:  4th Grade classes will be dividing days to participate in their Water Field Trip Studies.  Watch for details from your child’s teacher.

Thursday, May 12th to May 19th:  Mark your calendar….. The Telluride School K-12 Art Show Opening will be May 12 from 3:30-5:30 in the Palm Lobby.  Please plan to visit the Lobby to view KG-12th grade art during this week!

Monday, May 16th:  4th Grade Basic Aid Training will take place from 8:30 to 11:45 with local EMT personnel.

 Thursday, May 19th:  THIS IS A DATE CHANGE! 4th Grade parent chaperones are invited to attend a meeting for their child’s upcoming overnight trip.  The meeting will begin at 5:00 and will be in Ms. Childe’s classroom #106.

Thursday, May 26th:    Mark your calendar….The Telluride Intermediate School music and band students will be performing their spring concert in the Palm Theater.  Details to follow.

 Friday, May 27th:  6th Grade Field Trip to Ouray.  This is an all-day event.  Watch for details from your child’s teacher.

 Wednesday, June 1st:  TIS Field Day!  Students will come to school prepared for any type of weather.  They will also need to bring a sack lunch.  Field Day activities will take place at Town Park from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Thursday, June 2nd – Friday, June 3rd:   4th Graders will go on their Colorado National Monument overnight field trip.  Watch for details from your child’s teacher.

Monday, June 6th:  5th Grade Presentation of their Revolutionary War iMovies in the Palm Theater from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday, June 8th:  The 5th grade field trip to Montrose for movie/ bowling will be Wednesday, June 8.  Watch for details from your child’s teacher.
 
Wednesday, June 8th:  6th Graders are invited to attend the 6th-8th Grade MS Dance in the Cafeteria from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

 Wednesday, June 8th:  6th Grade Promotion Ceremony in the Palm Theater from 1:00 to 3:15.  There will not be a reception.  Watch for details from your child’s teacher.
 
 Thursday, June 9th:  Last day of school for students.  This will be a half day with students released at 12:00 to ride buses home.  Lunch will not be served.

=Friday, June 10th – August 26th:  Happy Summer Vacation!!!!  School will begin again on Monday, August 29th

Grace Gilhool and Cesar Romo Sandoval will have essays published in The Official Visitors Guide for Telluride and Mountain Village.
